More than 70,000 industry professionals from 79 countries gathered at the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) for this years Electronic Entertainment Expo, the world's premier interactive entertainment trade show. Around 400 exhibitors occupied 547,000 net square feet of exhibit space and displayed more than 5,000 computer and video game products - 1,000 of which made their debut. With a reported 80 percent of the 5,000 products will be found on store shelves by the end of this year.
This year Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft unveiled their new next-generation consoles, the first of which will be the
Xbox 360
. The new Xbox 360 places players at the center of powerful next-generation games and entertainment experiences. It features a multi-core 3.2 Gigahertz processor, powering a half of a Gigabyte's worth of RAM and an ATI Graphics processor with a clock speed of 500 Megahertz. The elegant design features a breakthrough wireless controller and an array of Faces, interchangeable face plates that let gamers personalize their console. The unveiling spotlighted some of the groundbreaking Xbox 360 games in development for the new system, advancements for Xbox Live and promising a new digital media experience.
Next it was Sony's turn to unveil the most powerful console seen yet. The
PS3
combines state-of-the-art technologies featuring Cell, a processor jointly developed by IBM, Sony Group and Toshiba Corporation, graphics processor (RSX) co-developed by NVIDIA Corporation and SCEI, and XDR memory developed by Rambus Inc. It also adopts BD-ROM (Blu-ray Disc ROM) with maximum storage capacity of 54 GB (dual layer), enabling delivery of entertainment content in full high-definition (HD) quality. The PS3 supports high quality display in resolution of 1080p as standard, superior to 720p/1080i.
Nintendo's
Revolution
turned a few heads at the show the system boasts 512 megabytes of internal flash memory, wireless controllers, two USB 2.0 ports and built-in Wi-Fi access. A worldwide network of Nintendo players can gather to compete in a comfortable, inviting environment. Revolution's technological heart, a processing chip developed with IBM and code-named 'Broadway', and a graphics chip set from ATI code-named 'Hollywood', will deliver game experiences not previously possible. The Revolution not only play all games from the current Nintendo GameCube generation, but the console also will have downloadable access to 20 years of fan-favourite titles originally released for Nintendo 64, SNES and even the NES.
Perfect Dark Zero
was finally announced for the new Xbox 360 and this title will feature a gripping, action-packed story line. Players assume the role of Perfect Agent Joanna Dark in a story set years before the original 'Perfect Dark,' where the action in this sci-fi thriller is based on espionage, conspiracy and a mysterious global conflict. This title will support a staggering 50 players online via Xbox Live, which includes fully scalable environments and complete Xbox Live support with tournaments and rankings.
The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
is a quintessential role-playing game for the next generation and another leap forward in gaming. Oblivion is the latest chapter in the epic and highly successful 'Elder Scrolls' saga and utilizes next-generation video game hardware to fully immerse players in the experience, we can't wait to get our hands on this one.
Test Drive Unlimited
promises to be the ultimate automotive experience for both car and bike enthusiasts alike. Test Drive Unlimited challenges players online to experience the most exotic and fastest vehicles on more than 1,000 miles of diverse Hawaiian roads.

Final Fantasy XI
for the Xbox 360 and also promised that Xbox Live Final Fantasy is just the beginning - as Square Enix will work closely with Microsoft on Xbox 360 and Xbox Live. They also announced the development of
Final Fantasy VII
for the PS3.
2K Games wowed the crowds at this years E3 with the absolutely stunning looking
Prey
. Gamers will enter an unpredictable world where nothing can be taken for granted. Most of the game takes place within a living ship, a giant entity that can sense and react to the gamers presence. It will feature an enhanced Doom 3 engine, the most impressive 3D engine used yet.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
was also confirmed for release this Christmas for the GameCube, Link must explore the vast land of Hyrule and uncover the mystery behind its plunge into darkness. As he does, he'll have to enlist the aid of friendly folk, solve puzzles and battle his way through dangerous dungeons. In the Twilight Realm, he'll have to use his wolf abilities and Midna's magic to bring light to the land.
Sony's technical demonstration of how powerful the PS3, for us - was the star of the show, and the amazing power of the PS3 was evident in
The Getaway
. The Getaway is crammed full of amazing detail of London's streets. Although it's just a technical demo, if the developers can get The Getaway on the PS3 to look as good as the version they showed off, then we are all in for a real treat.
So that's it for another year - but rest assured we'll keep you up-to date will all of the games and consoles featured.
