29th July 2003:
New GameCube Mario Golf info
As Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour has now been released in the US, final details have been confirmed.
Posted by Chris Barnett - GameCube - UK and Europe

Now that Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour is out in the US we can give you a full rundown of the features that we were shown briefly (and commented on) at the E3 show.

The main feature that has surfaced in the final version is that of unlockable courses. These are unlocked by winning existing courses and tournaments spanning 10 different modes. Other new features (from the previous games in the series) are present in the form of two new swing methods. These two methods will take full advantage of the GameCube's controller to add topspin, sidespin and backspin to shots.

Whilst all of these features may sound pretty common for a golf game nowadays, when coupled with the colourful characters and presentation of Nintendo's Mario games, they should make a great game. The compatability with the upcoming Game Boy Advance version of Mario Golf is still there but there is also an online leaderboard that will allow players to compare their scores with others. Details of this leaderboard are scarce at the moment, but as the game has only been out a day this is understandable. As it will not be seen in Europe until early in 2004 you need not worry about such features until you can actually interact with them.

If we can manage to get a US version of the game we will give you a full preview, until then take a look at the screens below.
