Posted by Chris Barnett - Game Boy Advance,GameCube - UK and Europe Advance Wars 2 is not due out in Europe until autumn time, so a few retailers had the smart idea of selling the import US version from its release date at the end of June. But they forgot about the warnings that Nintendo had already given about the sale of imported software. This forced Nintendo to remind all retailers selling US copies of Advance Wars 2 that they should not be doing so, by the means of a letter. Whether the letter is threatening or not is unknown, but it definately requests the immediate withdrawal of any US copies of the game. This follows a week in which popular import retailer, Another World, ceased stocking any more import Nintendo games. They sold all current stock of Nintendo imports for two thirds of the full price (usually around £60 for GameCube games and £50 for Game Boy Advance games), showing just how urgently they wanted to get rid of stock. As the Game Boy Advance has no regional lock out on it, many gamers may buy US games by accident. To make sure you never get an import game, always look at the age rating system. The US games will have the American age rating system on the front cover. To help you a little, we have included all the American age rating logos and their European counterparts at the bottom of this article. The European logos are the ones with the web address www.pegi.com on the bottom. Remember, do not buy any US Nintendo games if you aim on swapping them at a later date.
