New Terminator 3 screens and details

The new Terminator film was always going to be a big event, and with it still raking in the cash at the box-office there was little doubt that a game would come along soon. Coincidentally, it's Atari who have picked up the liscence for it, having already done very well out of film-to-game conversions with Enter the Matrix earlier this year! Will they be able to produce the same level of hysteria for Arnie's third appearance as a robotic killing machine? What do you think?
We first learnt about the game back in June, when the multiplayer side of the title was revealed, offering massive 32-player deathmatches based in the environments from the film. Now, however, we've uncovered some more snippets of information about the single-player game, where you get to take on the role of the Terminator himself and initially fight on the side of Skynet and the other machines. Once captured, though, you are reprogrammed by Tech Com (the group of human rebels) and get to fight on the side of the humans, against your former robotic allies.
The game will feature a vast array of weapons for you to take control of, which range from modern-day guns such as the M4A1, Desert Eagle and X-29, up to more futuristic models used mainly by Skynet and the machines, such as plasma rifles and cannons. The environments you get to play in will also be familiar to fans of the films, and include Los Angeles, a ruined ocean harbour, devastated highways and both Tech Com and Skynet bases.
Possibly the most mouth-watering aspect of the game, though, has to be the number of vehicles that are on offer to both sides. The humans will be able to use modified trucks, cars and personnel transports which will be equipped with mounted guns, plasma rifles and rockets. Meanwhile, some of the machines you get to play as on Skynet's side will be modified for rapid land and air movement.
With the film going down well in many territories, and this possibly being the last chance you get to see Arnie in a Terminator-based product for some time (even if it is only his voice and likeness), we anticipate this will go down a treat when it hits shops this Winter. Stay tuned to Silicon Fusion for more information as we get it!
