Championship Manager's parents to divorce
Sports Interactive and Eidos agree to work together one last time for the sake of their final child, Championship Manager: Season 03/04.
Posted by Chris Barnett - PC,Xbox - UK and Europe

The partnership of Sports Interactive and Eidos that was established in 1995 is about to come to a close after the release of the upcoming Championship Manager game.

Eidos will develop Championship Manager internally, with an update planned for the 2004/05 football season, while Sports Interactive will hold on to the rights of the player database and source code and will announce their future projects in the first quarter of 2004.

After Championship Manager 4 became the fastest selling PC game ever it is unusual for a dispansion to take place so suddenly, but if it means that both companies will produce quality games (instead of just one combined company) then it can only be good for the industry. What we could look forwards to is a true battle between the two companies should they both release football management games (which is very possible considering it is all Sports Interactive have ever done).

Until then we can look forwards to the 2003/04 edition of Championship Manager as we wipe a tear from our eyes with our wallets as we search for the money to pre order the game, even if just for tribute's sake.
