Posted by Chris Barnett - N-Gage - UK and Europe Following various rumours and scaremongering opinions, it seems that the N-Gage will be released in Japan. But before you start thinking that they will get the same treatment as Europe and the US you can think again. The device will get a limited release at the upcoming CEDEC 2003 conference in Tokyo. This sounds a little scarce of a release to us, but as Nokia have said that they will give further details of multi regional plans at the Tokyo Games Show it can be assumed that they will give full release dates and strategies there. The fact that Japan may miss out for once is quite ironic, but at the same time it does not bode well for the PR of Nokia. If they do not seem to be bothered with even releasing the console properly in a key region for gaming, then should the regions where the console is to be released really consider the console having a long life? Well from what we saw at the ECTS recently, the console is impressive when it is used properly (see our archives to view our verdict) and does deserve at least a trial by any gamer, no matter what regions it is released or not released in.
