Pikmin 2 slips
No new Pikmin until the second quarter of 2004.

Despite being on show at both the E3 and ECTS shows, Pikmin 2 will not be released until the second quarter of 2004. This is a blow to Nintendo's Christmas lineup as the game was being touted as one of the 'must buy' games for the holiday season.

The reason for the slip is simply to ensure that the game is finished before it is released (which is understandable considering Nintendo's track record. When can you seriously think that you have ever questioned their quality?), but it is still a big shock as many who played the game at any of the shows will have been given the impression that the game was near completion.

It is not as though Nintendo's whole 'Christmas plan' rested on the game, but it will certainly affect the overall sales of the game as the first was not very big at retail. If the game is that good though it may just persuade gamers to buy it no matter when it is released.
