Namco to Kill your Switches...
Kill.switch, a new action shooter looks set to rock the world.
Posted by Chris Barnett - PlayStation 2,Xbox,PC - UK and Europe

Namco have announced yet another eye opening game in the form of kill.switch for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, although the game will also be coming to the PC, courtesy of the Bitmap Brothers.

The game promises to be a third person military adventure shooter that will involve both cover tactics and intense shooting. Whilst this may sound pretty boring initially, the aim of the game is to be a polar opposite to the old fashioned shooters (where the whole game was centred on shooting and nothing more), so it could redefine the genre.

Two features that the game aims to bring to the shooter genre are an Offensive Cover System and Blindfire. These will involve the use of cover tactics as in real life shootouts. And this will be an essential aspect to success in the game as the AI is such that enemies will work as teams, and will also use cover tactics. So you can expect shootouts to take planning and skill rather than a rapid trigger finger.

The game will feature six missions (all focused on a fictional war) spread over 18 levels, taking the player across the world as the story entails. As the locations and strategies will remain as realistic as possible, so will the weaponry that is made available. From the AK47 to the MCRT sniper rifle, a weapon will be available for all situations. But if ammo is scarce then the cover tactics will be your true ally.

The PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions should be out in February with the PC getting it sometime in the first half of 2004. In the meantime we will keep you updated, as we are sure that this will be a title to watch (be it from behind a concrete pipe or sandbag bunker).
