10th January 2004:
Simply the best.
With sales rocketing across platforms, 2003 was more than good for the games industry.

ELSPA, the European Leisure and Software Publishers Association, they who compile the weekly gaming charts for all the various formats have announced that last year was the "...best year ever."

Further ELSPA head, Roger Bennett has added "The UK video games industry sales have been on the rise for the last 20 years - it topped the £2 billion mark for the first time in 2002 and this year, once the final figures for all hardware are compiled, will see that dynamic trend continue." A very impressive figure. More so when you realise that over half of that two billion is from software.

Sales of games and applications rose a more than respectable 7% compares to the rather flat sales figures for the consoles themselves over the last year. Plus with the release of such titles as Halo 2, Half-Life 2, Middle Earth Online, James Bond Everything or Nothing and the UK release of Final Fantasy X-2 things are looking up even further for the developers and publishers.
