Pirate Half Life 2 in Russia
Half Life 2 has allegedly been leaked, not onto the net but onto the shelves of Russian computer shops.
Posted by Chris Barnett - PC - UK and Europe

Following a leak of source code late last year, Half Life 2 has now been spotted on the shelves of stores in the Russian city of Novosibirsk.

This version is probably the result of the work of hackers who have modified the version that was leaked before. The game comes on two discs and is fully playable, with plot inconsistances throughout. The text has also been translated into Russian, suggesting that they are responsible for the hacking.

Whilst this should not affect gamers outside of Russia, it should come as a warning to all developers that all their code can be modified if hackers manage to get their hands on it. To prove the story we have the supposed sight of the box that was taken in a Russian store, showing that the piracy is not resticted to outdoor markets as is often the case in the UK and US.

All that we can say is that if you are stupid enough to compromise and experience one of the games of the year in pirated form, you deserve to go to jail or be banned from playing games forever (the latter would e much worse in our opinion).
