Posted by Chris Snook - Xbox,GameCube,PlayStation 2 - UK and Europe Burnout and Burnout 2: Point of Impact have both been huge games for Acclaim over the last few years, selling countless thousands of copies on all three major formats. Now it looks like EA has managed to snaffle the rights away for the third game. Nothing official has yet been announced, it is not even totally confirmed that the third game exists, yet rumours have seeped out that Criterion Games have made a deal to change publishers and that Electronic Arts intend to use Burnout 3 as a lynchpin of its games release strategy in 2004 alongside Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Early expectations include a simultaneous platform launch, unlike Burnout 2 where the PS2 received it many months ahead of the XBox and GC, also understood to be included will be online support - certainly for the PlayStation 2 and maybe the XBox (if EA's wrangle over XBox Live with Microsoft can be resolved).
