Take it to the Ultimate.
Racing into the lead in the longest title of the year award is Codemasters, TOCA Race Driver 2 :The Ultimate Racing Simulator is set to burn rubber.

Anyone old enough will remember that way back in their first days almost everything that was developed and published by Codemasters had 'simulator' tacked onto the end.

Now they are taking that concept to as they put it, the Ultimate.

The original TOCA has sold a whole slew of copies, over five million in fact and it was almost inevitable that a sequel would emerge and happily for the Codies they have kept the license and have refined things a little.

First up is that there is going to be built in internet connectivity for both platforms, they have also up-ramped the choice, with 35 of the best known car names, from both the streets and the race tracks, over thirty different championships from fifteen different styles of racing, ranging from rallying to street racing to Ice-Racing. You can even race trucks. Elsewhere things do not look to have been skimped, peek at the shots below and they look crisp and clear, as they should with a 60fps frame rate. All bolstered by realistic physics, car handling and damage systems. Everything is shaping up to be bigger and better than before. There is even an interactive storyline for those who want a bit more than some Va Va Voom.

Maybe they just have managed the Ultimate?

Out for both PC and XBox this spring.
