30th January 2004:
Astro Boy Lands on the PlayStation 2
Popular Japanese comic strip that recently came to TV screens will now come to the PlayStation 2, courtesy of Sonic's creator!
Posted by Chris Barnett - PlayStation 2,Game Boy Advance - UK and Europe

Astro Boy is one of the greatest icons of Japanese animation and has sold more than 80 million comics in more than 40 countries. Despite this, he is not a household name here in the UK - yet. With a new TV show on Kids WB he looks set to take the whole world by storm.

This will be backed up by two games: 'Astro Boy' on the PlayStation 2 and 'Astro Boy: Omega Factor' on the Game Boy Advance. The PlayStation 2 game will be developed by Sonic Team and the Game Boy effort by Treasure. This should prove very interesting for fans of the show and gamers alike as big franchises often get poor games.

Sonic Team should have the skill to captivate gamers in the same way that the cartoon has for all of these years. Since the cartoon is centred on the fight for the 'justice and peace' of humans and robots, it should translate perfectly into a game. With a strong character at their disposal, both Treasure and Sonic Team should be free to concentrate on making the best comic-book-game adaptation yet.
