The words that many in the gaming world were dreading to hear - Halo 2 will be delayed have come true.
The original Halo, which was launched with the XBox and has sold so far in excess of four million copies, set the gold standard against which any other game was to be rated against. So when Microsoft two years ago announced a second game was to be released in time for Christmas 2003 a lot of happy bunnies were made. Then the date slipped.
Expected this spring, summer at the very outside, Bungie the developers confirmed on their website that, yes, Halo 2 was going to be delayed even further, to this autumn to be precise. Microsoft added to this, with a spokeswoman saying, "Halo 2 was now set for release in the later part of the year, though a firm date was not available."
Bungie has promised, more action, better graphics, more weapons and a multi-player option via XBox Live, with further information being given on the Bungie Site. "Here at Bungie.net, as you've recently witnessed, we're ramping up a campaign of new content, details and snippets of info, just to keep you sated while you get ready for fall." The next expected viewing of Halo 2 is this May at the E3 trade show in LA.
