TOCA Race Driver 2 details
We have some brand-new screens and information on 'The Ultimate Racing Simulator'.
Posted by John Grothier - Xbox,PC - UK and Europe

This April will see the release of TOCA Race Driver 2: The Ultimate Racing Simulator on the Xbox and PC. Codemasters have announced an all-new 'Terminal Damage Engine' and the racer will have some of the most advanced physics ever seen in a racing game. The terminal damage engine will affect the performance of each of the games 35 cars. Windows will smash, doors will be ripped off - and if you are involve in a head-on collision, it could well end your race. TOCA 2 will also be a little strict with 'resets' - so if you screw up, you will have to do the race all over again.

Racers will get both audio and visual cues when damage is inflicted. In addition to the detailed body-panel deformation, paint chips and bits lying on the race track, drivers will be able to hear the gearbox dropping gears, engine clanking, brakes screaming and other internal malfunctions. When your car hurts, you'll know all about it. But TOCA won't punish you boy racers too much - 'Race Over' will mean just that, but only for that particular race. The save system in TOCA Race Driver 2 saves after every event, so you'll only have to re-run that one race you really screwed up in order to progress.

TOCA Race Driver 2 will feature some of the most diverse range of insanely fast motor sports ever seen in one game. 31 championships cover 15 different motor racing styles including GT Sports Car Racing, Street Racing, Rally, DTM, V8 Supercars, Global GT Lights, Rally Cross, Formula Ford, Open Wheel Grand Prix, Classic Car Racing, Super Truck racing, Stockcar Oval Racing, Ice-Racing, Convertible Racing, and Performance Cars.

Stay tuned to Silicon Fusion for much more on TOCA Race Driver 2: The Ultimate Racing Simulator very soon, but until then we have these stunning new screens showing off the terminal damage engine.
