17th February 2004:
Hedgehog factor 3 Mister Tails
He's faster than a speeding reliant, more spiky than Buffy and able to clear whole levels of rings. Sonic is back and is ready to advance for a third time.
Posted by Chris Snook - Game Boy Advance - UK and Europe

That evil genius Doctor Eggman (Robotnik) is at it once again, separating the world into seven fragments, with the aid of the Chaos emeralds. Only the skills of his blue spiked nemesis, Sonic the Hedgehog - with friends - can defeat him and restore the world to a its state of wholeness.

Team Sonic by the looks of it have seriously ramped things up again for Sonic Advance 3. We are promised a faster, smoother game than ever before. The graphics look to have been polished until they radiate light back at you, animation is destined to be sleeker and sharper than ever seen on the GBA. Sound too is rumoured to have been given the twice over to push the GBA to the limit.

Gameplay wise with twenty different potential routes through the game, as dictated by the combinations of the team you pick, should up the last-ability quite a fraction. You get to choose from five characters - Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Cream or Amy - and you also get to pick a buddy to help you get to hidden areas or other places on the maps using special moves and abilities.

The levels are non-linear, allowing the player to choose which way to do things, each with different secret areas and unlockables to be found with the use of your team. Supposedly no two games will be identical.

There are two multi-player modes to boot, co-op where you and a mate can each control a character and go head to head against the game as an unstoppable team. However it is in the expected battle mode that the fun will really kick in, race three pals to the finish line and show them who really is the fasted Hedgehog in the west.

Other expected features include the aforementioned huge gaming zones, each containing multiple acts to progress through, all with boss fights. Bonus stages revealed through the bettering of various mini-games that have been placed around the levels and the prospect of Doctor Eggman's, biggest meanest and most deadly Hedgehog stomper to date.

No UK/European release date as yet but rest assured as soon as our robot bees have something you will know about it.
