MI5, once the bastion of secrecy and shadowy dealings within the United Kingdom, a place of mystery and James Bondian spy games in order to secure the integrity of the country. Now the BBC are following on from their 'recreation' of MI5 life with a set of titles based on the hit series Spooks.
To be released across three platforms, PC, XBox and PS2, Spooks is to be written by one of the series writers and will feature all of the regular cast as they stand to thwart a major, international crime conspiracy. Involved will be surveillance missions, code-breaking and ultimately penetration of enemy cells to gain crucial info.
To be developed within the BBC, via its Worldwide arm Spooks it to be the first totally in-house conversion of a drama series to the small screen and naturally they are enthusiastic,
"The rich and engaging world of Spooks makes ideal material for a game. Added to this, the support and contribution of the show's production team will help the development of a truly involving title that I expect to appeal to fans of the series as well as the wider computer gaming community."
was the reaction from Dave Lee, BBC Worldwide's Director of Multimedia.
The game is due out this Autumn, to coincide with the third Spooks series. Enough there even for Colonel K. Oh carrots.
