After releasing the original Cossacks: European Wars back in 2001, many wondered what CDV and GSC Game Worlds would turn their attentions to next. While Art of War and Back to War use the same engine, extending the life of the original game, the latest project, American Conquest, is a whole new title, that allows players to take part in America's 'colourful' history.
Starting off when Columbus discovered the continent in 1492, and continuing all the way up to the War of Independence, American Conquest covers over 300 years of history. During the game, you'll be able to play as, or battle against, 12 separate forces that have all laid claim to the land, including Spain, England, France, and the Aztecs.
The game uses Cossacks' familiar isometric view to display the action, and allows real-time battles containing up to 16,000 units on a single map. There will be 50 missions to play through in the single player game, and a random map generator for multiplayer modes supporting up to 7 players over LAN or the Internet.
Overall, American Conquest is looking very tasty indeed. Be sure to check back soon for more details on this potential hit, which is due for release next year.
