Mental is coming and he has brought a few buddies, ready for Serious Sam Next Encounter.

The Earth is defenceless in the face of an invasion by the minions of Sam's nemesis - Mental! Now it is once more up to Sam to save the world and preserve freedom for all (queue stirring music).

Time is your ally as you are plunged backwards in the fourth dimension to deliver an asskicking to the aliens that have decided to set up home, in three detailed and gorgeous looking levels. They being ancient Rome, Dynastic China and the mythical land of Atlantis.

To aid Sam in his quest to gib the invasion force is a vast arsenal of weapons, including all the old favourites and a plethora of new pieces of devastation dealing devices. And all of this nice shiny kit can be deployed on both platforms in the various, unique game mode.

The PS2 will support up to eight player online play or a two player split-screen option, whilst the GameCube will include a four-way deathmatch option and both will have a two player co-op mode. More than enough to keep an itchy trigger finger quiet.

As a related snippet, there is a Serious Sam game coming out for the GBA, Serious Sam Advance. Set in ancient Egypt and Rome, with all new levels and bosses and a GBA link four player deathmatch option it is time to lock and load.

Serious Sam Next Encounter is out this spring for the PS2 and GC.
Serious Sam Advance for GameBoy Advance is also out this Spring.
