Posted by John Grothier - Xbox,PlayStation 2,GameCube,Game Boy Advance - UK and Europe Electronic Arts have just announced a brand-new role playing game, The Lord of the Rings The Third Age for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, Game Cube and also a Game Boy Advance version of the game. This epic RPG will be released late this year, and players will get the chance to venture back to Middle-earth and choose their own path through the events of the blockbusting films. Based on New Line Cinema and Peter Jackson's acclaimed film adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien's classic The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Lord of the Rings The Third Age will allow players to adventure through Middle-earth, building a party of heroes as they journey. As well as fighting on the side of the Fellowship, players if they wish can also fight alongside Sauron and his evil forces - and doing so will unlock additional encounters in the game. Players will also be able to interact with the characters of the Fellowship in a unique structure, taking on individual quests while intersecting the major events of the film trilogy that drive the story forward. Your party will journey through both familiar and seldom-glimpsed locations, using an innovative turn-based battle system as they fight, so at last you will be able to battle the demonic Balrog in the Mines of Moria, defend the fallen city of Osgiliath or even try to destroy Helm's Deep.
