Relic Entertainment, those wonderful chaps behind such games as the Homeworld series of games has entered into a definitive agreement to be bought by publishing powerhouse THQ.
Relic started in 1997 by the then teenaged Alex Garden, has since the release of the original Homeworld been one of the rising stars of the development world. Now they have caught the eye of THQ, publishers of their latest project, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War an RTS title based on the popular wargaming universe.
Jack Sorensen of THQ explained why they were acquiring Relic, "The Relic acquisition underscores THQ's strategy to acquire development studios with a proven ability to create the highest quality products," he continued, "We are confident that Relic's extremely talented teams of designers, programmers and artists will solidify THQ's position as a leading publisher of PC and console entertainment."
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is due out this Autumn.
