Within the last day both Sony and Nintendo have finally revealed their latest entries into the console market, after months of speculation and guesswork.
Sony are pinning their hopes on the PSP (PlayStation portable) a sleek and sexy looking creation in a tight form fitting black number chock full of hidden talents and capabilities.
Nintendo, the current king of the hill are looking towards their Dual Screen (which we presume is a name that will change) to keep a hold of the market that they have so long held a monopoly in.
Both are targeting the eighteen to thirty-four year old age range but with totally different tactics. Sony are placing theirs as an entertainment experience with features such as the ability to play music and videos in addition to games. All due to their new format - the Universal Media Disk (UMD), capable of holding three times the data of a normal CD.
Nintendo however are playing more to the social gamer as the DS, along with it's touch screen and built in microphone, will also feature a wireless capability allowing you to play against fifteen others all without needing to connect one to another. There are also hints of voice recognition being incorporated so allowing for a new breed of games where you can literally tell the DS what to do.
There are no prices yet but both are on track for a release in Japan by years end and rest of the world in the first half of next year.
