14th June 2004:
A bard by any other name
Twenty years on and the venerable RPG snags its name and skips on.
Posted by Chris Snook - Xbox,PlayStation 2,PC - UK and Europe

The Bards Tale by any yardstick is a classic and now it is set to return, bigger, better more colourful all ready for a new generation.

After months of speculation, inXile entertainment has secured the rights to use the name The Bards Tale for their spiritual successor title. Based around the Orkney Isles, off the Scottish coast the gameplay follows an unusual premise. That the hero is after nothing more than coin and a good woman for the night. The play is reckoned to be non-linear and is set to be as immerse as possible with rustling trees, singing birds and other background sounds that all add to the feel of being on the isles.

One new feature is the interaction, with the player being able to choose how polite or sarcastic their replies are to NPC's, so allowing for a multitude of potential reactions to your responses. All this from the original producer Brian Fargo.

Due out this Winter.
