The Mongol hordes fought there way to the very gates of Europe, Christianity was rising and the crusades sapped the strength of countries a time of woe indeed. Now one in which you get to pit your tactical nous against one another in. Based on the celebrated Europa Universalis Engine, Crusader Kings allows you to make decisions that ripple out all through the known world, all of Europe with chunks of Africa, Asia Minor and the Arabian peninsula. Gone is the normal formula of trying to build an empire for the sake of an empire, it is replaced with the concept of prestige and power, the more you have the better you are in effect as you deal with the feudal kinglets and church princes that populate districts. What you are after is to see your dynasty grow and prosper, all the while as you take part in some the bloodiest historical conflicts the world has known.
