DS is confirmed
The Dual Screen handheld from Nintendo finally gets its official name.

It is official.

The name for Nintendo's innovative Dual Screen design is the Nintendo DS. The name used as a development name for so long.

The unit has undergone a redesign, apparently since E3 and is now a slimmer, more sharp looking unit that is reminiscent of the early hand-held games by the big N twenty or so years ago.

Inside still retains the twin screen layout but the controls have been rejigged, again with a look that resembles those earlier single game hand-helds and apart from this the DS could be overlooked as a smart PDA. Nintendo have also revealed the logo, which can be seen in the images.

Due for release Spring next year here in Europe the DS is already supported by well over a hundred companies with a Metroid title being one of the first announced.
