Infogrames announces Grand Prix Challenge
The PS2 may not be getting Grand Prix 4, but can this new title from Atari make up for it?
Posted by Marc Hull - PlayStation 2 - UK and Europe

While PS2 owners may be a little dismayed by the fact that Grand Prix 4 isn't heading to their beloved console, Infogrames have responded by giving them a whole new game from the guys responsible for previous successful racers like Le Mans 24 Hours. Grand Prix Challenge is officially licensed by the FIA, so the game will contain all the official drivers and teams for the 2002 season. The developers have also been busy modelling the 22 cars and 17 tracks to be as accurate as possible, and these first screenshots indicate a pretty good job so far.

The game will contain 5 different game modes, ranging from a fully-fledged championship to a four-player, split-screen multiplayer option. There will also be 3 difficulty levels and 4 A.I settings, to cater for both novices and experienced players. Graphically, the title is meant to maintain a healthy 60 frames-per-second throughout, although we're still waiting anxiously to see if it passes the Monaco test. Grand Prix Challenge is due in the shops this November, and we hope to have further information on it soon!
