That is the question that is puzzling people who have heard a report to the effect that if he was ever rung by Nintendo's owner Hiroshi Yamauchi, he would "pick up at once" and make an offer if the company was "...put on the table." The remark was made at a conference in Frankfurt. Just a small comment but in the long, dull days of summer it is enough to get people saying 'What if?' quite a lot. Undoubtedly, if it ever happens it could make for a powerful team. Nintendo's undoubted expertise in both the console and handheld market (the real jewel of Nintendo at the moment) combined with the marketing budget and muscle of the Redmond giant could prove potent enough to trouble Sony.
