Posted by Chris Snook - PC - UK and Europe Following on in a long line of games that stretches back well over a decade, Viacom, have announced that one of the next titles in the Star Trek series is to be a Massive Multi-Player Online Game. Initial reports have said that the Universe will be based around the original, next Generation and Deep Space 9 series, with scope to grow and interact with characters from those shows. Though unfortunately you will not be able to assume the command of any of the Enterprises or DS9, or assume the mantle of such luminaries as James T Kirk, William T Riker or Quark. Details are very thin at the moment with Perpetual Entertainment remaining quite tight lipped on the specifics of how it could work though it was revealed that in order to gain rank and skills player characters will have to undergo missions assigned to them by Starfleet Command, which could lead them into away missions and battles aboard their very own Starship command. With a fan base that extends into the millions and the success of Star Wars Galaxies the near three year wait for the final release may be too much for most. More news as it beams on in.
