Bullet Time!
The world as we know it is a lie. We are in the ultimate virtual reality created by machines. Now it is time to fight back, jack in and enter the Matrix.
Posted by Chris Snook - PC - UK and Europe

Whoa!

As Neo may have said.

The battle is over, humans and machines are in an uneasy peace, Neo and Trinity are gone but for many the fight still goes on. In The Matrix Online you take on the role of someone who has bit the bullet and taken the red pill. Caught in the middle of a faction war to see who will ultimately control the world you jack into.

Play is totally based within the Matrix itself or at broadcast depth, there is no 'Real World' action to drop into and out of and even death is not the end. All the moves are slated to be in the final version, including six or so distinct martial arts styles, Bullet Time and everything that made the original Matrix film unique. Aside from combat there will be opportunities to practice other abilities, hacking, sneaking and similar, either against NPC AI's and Agents or in the more intense Player verses Player arena, the place where you can show how close you are to being the Next One.

You will also be able to talk to 'operators' via a built in AOL Aim client and participate in a hovercraft crew at Broadcast depth, all reputedly on a 56k Modem.

Closed Beta is in November and TMO is set for a January 2005 release in US and Europe.
