DS Screens
In the handheld market it is almost time for Nintendo's double or nothing gamble.
Posted by Chris Snook - Game Boy Advance - UK and Europe

In a break with convention, Nintendo today have announced that their innovative new handheld, the Nintendo DS will be launched first in North America, then Japan and finally in Europe.

The date of November 21st was greeted with slight surprise but for many it makes some sense releasing in the busy pre Christmas period first in the US then Asia. This way it is possible that Nintendo hope to gain a march on Sony who have indicated that their own Handheld, the PSP, will debt in a more normal pattern.

With the backing of over a hundred companies, including Electronic Arts, producing around about twenty games for the initial launch and a raft to follow. Also on offer were the first real images of the DS itself, showing more of how it looks and the touch screen in operations.

Suggested retail price in the US is $149.00.
