It is over.
Or as developers Bungie put it in their announcement, "We are basically done making Halo 2," it continued, "Seriously. Barring any unexpected shenanigans, Halo 2 is done and dusted, simultaneously, for every region it will be released in worldwide.". That release date is November 9th for the US and two days later for here in the UK, for one of the most anticipated games this side of the next decade.
With expanded level design (the rumour is that most of the old Halo levels could fit into one, new canyon level), three years of graphics and audio development and a way of making a game that more resembles a big budget movie, Halo 2 is set to evolve combat further than ever before.
From the trailer we know that Earth has taken a mauling and the only being left with a big enough foot to kindly ask them to get the hell off his planet is the genetic super soldier, the Master Chief. Also since this is a grudge match for the covenant, things are not going to be easy for the MC as he wades his way through them. With an expanded selection of weapons - including a nifty energy sword - more vehicles to road kill anything to get in his way the Master Chief will also be able to battle along in multi-player modes, with Bungie promising something special for it.
Now all we have to do is wait for the couple of million or so copies of the game to be pressed and delivered to the shops. Never has thirty-eight days felt so long.
