BioWare wins award
Billboard names Canadian developers BioWare 'Game Developer of the Year'.
Posted by John Grothier - Xbox,PC,PlayStation 2,GameCube - UK and Europe

Canadian developers BioWare were awarded the prestigious title of "Game Developer of the Year" at the recently held Billboard 2004 Digital Entertainment Awards Gala. This award is given to developers who show the best body of work for a game on any platform or combinations of platforms over the last year. The 2003 Game of the Year Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic on PC and Xbox, as well as expansion packs for the hit Neverwinter Nights series, greatly contributed to the company's success over that time period. BioWare faced tremendous competition in this category, beating out other excellent development studios like Maxis, Pandemic Studios, and Ubisoft Montreal to claim the title of Game Developer of the Year.

"It is a great honor to be named Game Developer of the Year at the 2004 Billboard Entertainment Awards" said Dr. Greg Zeschuk, of BioWare Corp. "This award is truly a testament to the hard work of our entire staff, comprised of the most talented, creative, and original people in the world. This award recognizes their fantastic efforts over the last few years. "

"We're certainly thrilled about this award, and we are also excited about the future" added Dr. Ray Muzyka, of BioWare Corp. "With titles like the martial-arts action-RPG Jade Empire to be published by Microsoft on the Xbox in March 2005 - and the epic fantasy PC-RPG Dragon Age, as well as another unannounced title on the way, all based on new BioWare-created and owned intellectual properties, it is an exciting time for the company. Other exciting projects are underway within our Technology Architecture Group, working on our next-generation BioWare Eclipse Engine technology for PC and console; and the BioWare Community/Live Team, working on digital distribution initiatives."

So congratulations to BioWare, and we look forward to taking a closer look at Jade Empire and their future projects on Silicon Fusion soon.
