There is a growing threat in the world, a world that has felt safer in th elast decade due to the lack of the spectre of a nuclear holocaust. This threat is that of a world spanning terrorist network, armed with a patchwork of weapons from numerous countries and other sources, weapons that make them a credible threat.
In
Act of War: Direct Action
where you take command of the US rapid reaction anti-Terror force codenamed Task Force Talon. Talon has at its disposal a range of current and near-future weaponry in order to take the goof fight to the foe of The Consortium over a series of RTS based mission. Missions that range from hit and run strikes with lightly armed but deadly buggies to rapid, precision insertion of troops with the latest fo Vertical Take Off and Landing craft.
Act of War is also a game of experience, train your marines and then throw them into combat in order to gain specialisations and veteran status, making a sergeant five times as valuable as a trooper and five times as capable. Throwing away your marines therefore is not the most efficient method of gaining the objective. You are rewarded for thinking and saving your men.
Combat takes place both on the ground and in the air, with defences required for both as Tanks and Attack Choppers square off using terrain as cover and trading fire, call in artillery or a precision strike by an unmanned drone to provide that vital edge in an objective. As The Consortium throw whatever they can find in your way to cause as much pain and devastation as they can before fading into the fog and night.
Act of War: Direct Action has a current release date sometime this Spring.
