New Red Faction 2 details
We've got more info about the game's squad based play, and some background stories for the team members.

One of the major differences between the original Red Faction and its sequel has to be the inclusion of squad-based play. No longer will you be running about levels alone, instead you'll have an experienced team to fight by your side. The game uses a mix of scripted events and A.I to make sure that your teammates really are helpful in your quest to defeat the evil dictator, Sopot. However, each team member is useful for different things, and THQ have helpfully filled us in with information on each:
Alias (Demolitions Expert)
This is the character who you take control of, and being a demolitions expert, you can expect many opportunities to make use of your talent throughout the game. He's a veteran of the Sopot Special Forces Team, having worked there for seven years, and has earned medals for both heroism and valour. Service files indicate an above-average score in all areas, including intelligence, leadership, loyalty, courage and combat skills.
Voice acted by Christian Campbell (Cold Hearts, Trick, Malibu Shores)
Shrike (Transportation Expert)
One of Red Faction 2's cool features is a large number of vehicles, and no doubt Shrike will be a good candidate for using them. He spent six years in the army air corps, and is a specialist in all forms of military transportation. His creative interpretation of orders may have held him back from promotion, but it puts him in prime position for high-risk operations!
Voice acted by Jason Statham (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Mean Machine, Snatch, The Transporters)
Tangier (Skilled in Stealth and Electronics)
Having started life as an orphan, Tangier was shipped from the Mars Ultor complex after the rebellion, and when her technical expertise became known she was quickly hired by the Sopot Intelligence Services. Since then, she's demonstrated her abilities during both domestic and foreign covert operations.
Quill (Accomplished Sniper)
Quill has often been successfully inserted into highly dangerous situations, and has been highly commended for her courage under fire. She will do whatever it takes to enhance her physical abilities, and processing has improved upon her already impressive athleticism and coordination.
Repta (Heavy Weapons Expert)
Despite a reputation for beserker violence, allogations of involvement in several atrocities and low impule control, Repta was picked especially for this mission by Secretary of Defence Molov. Having served under Molov's command for many years, he is extremely loyal and obeys every order to the letter.
Molov (Exceptional in all areas)
The team's leader, Molov is the commander of the Commonwealth's Army, and is a decorated war hero. He is strongly in favour of nano-technology experimentation, and has used his recently-attained position as Secretary of Defence to make his views heard, to forward the creation of nano-technology enhanced soldiers.
Voice acted by Lance Henriksen (Dead Man, Quick and the Dead, Scream 3, Aliens, Millennium)
Although not having such an in-depth back story, the enemy soldiers you'll face in Red Faction 2 are also highly detailed, and we're lucky enough to have renders of all of them for you to see below. Check back soon for more information on this hot title, including a full preview and details of the game's vehicles!
