Posted by Marc Hull - PlayStation 2 - UK and Europe Although first shown a little while back at this year's E3, little has been heard about Capcom's third-person Western adventure. However, today we managed to lasso some screenshots that were running wild, and finally have some solid information on the PS2 title. Firstly, the game's unusual name stems from the main character, known as "Red", is taken in by Indians and taught the way of survival after his family is robbed and killed by outlaws. Years later, as an accomplished gunslinger, he vows to seek vengeance on the outlaws of the West. The game will contain fast-action gun-slinging sequences, detailed characters with over 1000 animations and a complex AI system where each character will have different emotions and behaviours, reacting to outside forces according to their personalities. Players will be able to ride and fight on horses, use gunfighter skills, evade enemies using stealth and fight using hand-to-hand combat. Weapons include old Western favourites such as pistols, shotguns, whips and dynamite, and there's even a four-player deathmatch mode. We hope to see more on Red Dead Revolver as its 2003 release date draws closer, meanwhile check out these first screenshots.
