Posted by Chris Snook - PlayStation 2 - UK and Europe Konami have announced the latest addition to the venerable Castlevania series. Castlevania: Curse of Darkness is firmly in development and takes place three years after the defeat of Dracula by Trevor Belmont. The famous clan of stakers however are not the main focus, though they will put in appearances, this time round it the turn of Hector and Isaac to battle the beings of the night with as much panache as they become embroiled in a story of revenge. With the style and viewpoint of the last title to emerge, Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, Curse of Darkness hopes to build on that titles success. One major difference is that Hector can call upon the aid of 'Innocent devils' to perform tasks such as door breaking or path finding. Other areas are being overhauled, including the weapons and experience systems, along with a rumoured appearance by Alucard and the distinct possibility of bonus levels from the abandoned Dreamcast title Castlevania: Resurrection.
