Hideo Kojima’s classic series has been enhanced with addition of four key new features for the PAL version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, due for release on the PlayStation 2 on 4th March.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is already one of the most anticipated games of the year. Set in the 1964, the game is centered in the escalating Cold War, with central hero Snake armed with weapons of the era and charged with recovering a defecting scientist. To this end, series creator and Director Hideo Kojima has moved away from the urban environments of the game's predecessors and has created a lush jungle setting.
In readiness for the PAL version's March release, Kojima has again added a number of new ideas to the European versions of the game. As with Director's enhanced PAL version of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, European gamers will get more Snake for their money than their US and Japanese counterparts in the form of four key new features.
As previously announced, PAL versions of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will feature a new 'Duel Mode' which allows players to battle through the game's 'Boss Fights' independently, and details the rich variety of adversaries Snake faces during the course of the game. A 'Demo Theatre' has also been created, and can be used to play the game's stunning link sequences in order to enjoy the many dramatic plot twists in order.
European gamers will also enjoy a new 'European Extreme' difficulty level, which is designed for hardened veterans of Snake's jungle environment, while there are two new levels in the light-hearted 'Snake Vs Monkey' mode, wherein the Metal Gear Solid hero finds himself chasing and trying to catch errant monkeys! The PAL version will also feature many face paint designs not seen in the existing versions of the game, while the winning designs from Konami's global camouflage creation competition will also be included as you can see in the screens below.
More on Snake as we get it.
