14th February 2005:
WoW hiccough
In an eerie repeat of the US launch there are problems entering Azeroth.
Posted by Chris Snook - PC - UK and Europe

If anything can be learnt from the European debut of World of Warcraft, it is that no matter how prepared you are, there will always be a margin of not being prepared enough.

As with the US launch, the demand to access the game and to create accounts exceeded the capability of the servers with delays encountered in creation and a period of downtime in order to bolster the servers online ready. As yet the forums are still down.

However this does mean that Blizzard may well have a success on their hands already, since despite all the teething troubles three of the servers were reaching maximum capacity within twenty-four hours of opening and others seemed destined to follow suit rapidly. Guilds too appear to have been popular with many servers clambering upwards to their limit, with players again asked to create them on lower population servers.

Expect a review in the next week or so.
