Posted by Chris Snook - PC - UK and Europe In what has been a generally well received announcement, Relic Entertainment have announced the first expansion to one of last years best selling games. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Winter Assault will appear this Autumn and promises to be the first block of a franchise to stand upon the foundations of the original. A deeper, more involved and intense single player experience is promised, whilst holding onto the style that made it the best game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. To be introduced to the mix this time around are the Imperial Guard, the more numerous and normal soldiers of the Imperium, as a fifth playable contingent of troops. Ron Morevak, Relic's General Manager enthused. "The response to Dawn of War has been overwhelming," He continued, "Combining the enthusiasm we're seeing from the fans with the ability to draw from the seemingly endless, rich content from the Warhammer 40,000 universe made the decision to create an expansion easy. We look forward to building on the Dawn of War franchise with even more visceral combat action throughout both the single and multi-player experiences."
