Lionhead is well known for its highly innovative (if a bit weird) game ideas, and their new action-adventure game BC certainly doesn't break this tradition. You are a simple caveman, who is part of a tribe, and your daily life mainly consists of running away from predators. However, it's up to you to secure your race's future as the dominant species on the planet, by using your leadership skills to guide the rest of your tribe in the ways of survival.
Unfortunately for you, the enemies you'll come across in the game aren't as stupid as you might like. Not only does every ferocious creature that you stumble into have their own personality and intelligence, but there's also a rival race of ape-men who have their eyes set on destroying mankind and becoming dominant themselves.
The final game promises an incredible amount of freedom to explore and exploit your surrounding environment, develop new technology, and use a vast array of weapons to survive. Each member of your tribe will have his or her own personality and opinions, which will change depending on your tribe's successes and failures. Every item in the game world can be examined, picked up and used as a weapon, giving you a massive range of possibilities. The environment itself can also be used to your advantage or lead to your destruction. There are hot desert days that turn into sub-zero nights, waterfalls and caves hiding new discoveries critical to survival, and various plant life that can be food for some creatures but poison to others.
Overall, BC sounds like it could well be another hit game for Lionhead when it's released next year. Until then, check out these new screenshots, which show of some of the title's amazing graphics engine!
