Eidos: The Saga Continues
With another turn of fortunes, Eidos now back a different runner in the quest to buy them out.
Posted by Chris Snook - Xbox,PlayStation 2,PC - UK and Europe

Last month Eidos, publishers of such games as the Lara CroftLegacy of Kain and plenty more, announced that they had accepted a £70 million plus bid from the Elevation Partners to be bought out with. Since then SCI Entertainment has also been tabled.

Little has been heard since. Until now.

Eidos have swapped preference of sale from Elevation, who counts U2 front man Bono as a director, to SCI. Reputedly due to an increased offer from SCI of over £100 million, a significant increase. Whilst SCI is smaller than Eidos currently it is a lot more solvent and the direct compatibility of business maybe more to the liking of Eidos' shareholders and board. The merger would create one of the largest publishing firms in the UK.

However, despite switching support, Eidos has encouraged shareholders to examine both offers carefully to see which they think is more suitable, there is also a £700,000 'break fee' to Elevation if their offer is rejected.

Aain more when we have it.
