It was a long hard slog, but finally the one lone marine managed to do what the rest of the attacking armada failed to do. Destroy the Makron and defeat the Strogg. The Strogg, part cybernetic, part reanimated corpse and all monster, beings that prey on civilisations and planets in a destructive parasitism, sucking whole worlds clean, A threat no more.
That was the end of the second Quake.
Now we learn that they have regrouped, their defences down but they are not out - yet. One more decisive push will shatter the Strogg once and for all. You are not alone this time, Matthew Kane, now you have buddies and vehicles to help you on your way as the final chapter of this conflict of worlds is about to collide to a staggering finale.
It has been ten months since any news on Quake 4 emerged. Now it has been revealed that it will be a direct sequel to Quake II though very few further details are sneaking out, there has been one screenshot and it shows a nice new edge to things. Hopefully more details will shake loose when E3 hits in a few weeks, and there is a rumour of an appearance at QuakeCon 2005. What we do know is that the powerful Doom 3 engine will once again be employed to rack up the tension and the atmosphere.
So steady yourselves for the pre-shocks of the next Quake.
