Posted by Chris Snook - - UK and Europe There is a rumour lurking about that the release date for the new Sony PlayStation portable in the UK and probably Europe will be later than some would like. Dixons, one of the largest retailers in the UK has started to take pre-orders for the handheld system, despite there being no date even remotely set by Sony for the debut in the old countries. Learning the lessons from Nintendo's DS last month as it became available, Dixons say they are planning ahead by taking the pre-orders now as opposed to later. They also gave the PSP a price tag of around £179 and that their best guess for the release date was "...by the end of the summer...", with September the most popular translation. With over half-a-million units sold in the US on it's debut last month the PSP is possibly the most anticipated gadget of the year. Chris Snook             Latest Images:
