A few more details about Atari's latest FPS have shaken loose ahead of the looming Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3. In TimeShift you take on the role of Col. Michael Swift, the worlds first Chrononaut, who after an attack on the top secret base he is in, returns after his short trip in time to find that the Human Race si gone - as if it never existed. It is now up to Michael to discover why and devise a way to rectify the original timeline, before it is too late.
Naturally the big innovation is the ability to muck about with the flow of time, a first for a First Person Shooter, you can stop, slow and reverse things as required to progress and mastery of this skill will be of prime importance to completion. All with a powerful AI to make you think about how things could be done.
You will find yourself in an alternate stream of time where technology has taken a different path, technology that is integral to the story arc as you fight your way through the thirty-five missions in order to find out who or what is behind everything. Use new weapons and strategies, brought alive by the use of the Sabre3D engine, providing realistic lighting, movement and textures - incorporating Parallax Lighting for the first time. Or go on line and take the fight to everyone else to show just who is really the Time Lord.
Due for release this Autumn. More when the Doctor drops back in.
