S.L.A.I. them all! (E3 2005)
"You dig giant robots, I dig giant robots, We dig giant robots, Chicks dig giant robots..."
Posted by Chris Snook - PlayStation 2 - UK and Europe

Mechs are popular. There is nothing quite like seeing a huge twenty plus ton robot go striding out, delivering a huge wodge of ordinance at an opponent and then somehow manage to look smug about it in the process.

That has been one thing lacking on the PlayStation 2, a good all out Mech game where you can go online and batter the rust off someone half way around the world. Well now thanks to Konami you will soon be able to.

S.L.A.I., or Street Lancer Arena International find you part of the now popular giant robot fighting scene of the year 2071, where you find yourself deep in the newest and quite brutal sport. As you would expect there are a selection of devastating weapons to unload upon an enemy, more custom refits than the Star Ship Enterprise. Or try out the use of Optical Camouflage to hide in plain sight as you progress through the fifty or so hours of Story that is to be given to you. Online you will be able to face off against another three Mechs with a further two people waiting in the wings to have a go as they think they are hard enough.

As a further bonus S.L.A.I. will also allow for the creation of a custom soundtrack to wreck to, pulled from a ninety-title track listing.

So go on this Autumn, adopt a mech.
