Fed up with the track? Tired of the open road? Then what you need it dirt unter the hubcaps - go off-road.

"Are your racing games getting dusty on the shelves?" That is the question posed by publishers GMX Media as they unveil their first ever console title. Extreme 4x4 for the XBOX is looking set to not only blow the cobwebs away but to rip them apart in a slipstream of dust and dirt.

There will be the usual chicanes and tricky turns to negotiate but this time on dirt tracks, sand tracks and even snow to grit your teeth over. Then there are the natural hazards, tornadoes can come forth and rip you from your course or dash away from the boulders as they hurtle down the slope to keep from gathering moss.

Eugene Perry, COO for GMX Media is quoted as saying, "Extreme 4x4 is a superb first title for our entry into the console market ", he continued. "We have been in negotiation with a number of developers worldwide for some time and have finally collated a number of great titles which we will be subsequently releasing for XBOX and other console formats. Extreme 4x4 is simply the first of many great console games that we will be launching!"

Extreme 4x4 is due for release this September.
