Resident Evil For The Next Generation.
Capcom has announced that it is working on the next Resident Evil game, but only on Sony and Microsoft formats.

Capcom has announced that the next game in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil 5 will be released on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, with no mention of Nintendo's next generation console. This could be changed later, but as it stands, this is an important move for Capcom, having previously supported Nintendo fully.

This loosening of the relationship has happened since the announcement of Capcom's Big 5 in 2003. They promised 5 GameCube exclusive games that were intended to be a salvation for the machine. As it resulted, 1 was cancelled (Pheonix), 3 drifted onto the PlayStation 2 as well (Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2, Killer 7 and Resident Evil 4) and the remaining title was received poorly by reviewers and gamers alike (P.N.03). Now it seems that Nintendo are getting the cold shoulder for some reason, which is a shame as Resident Evil games have been so good on the system (except for 2 and 3, which we will ignore as they were not remakes, they were just ports).

For fans of the Resident Evil series it will be good news that the story will follow on from the fourth game, so there will be no silly sidetrack gimmicks as in the case of the Nemesis earlier in the series. Whether the PlayStation 2 version of Resident Evil 4 will include enough differences to shape the fifth game beyond what we have in the GameCube version remains to be seen, but either way, we would rather continue this story than start a new one.
