Banned Theft Auto?
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has been changed to an 'Adults Only' rating in America due to 'hidden' content being publicised.
Posted by Chris Barnett - PlayStation 2,Xbox,PC - UK and Europe

The hit PC, PlayStation 2 and Xbox game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has been officially classified as an AO (adults only) game in America following the discovery of controversial content last week.

The 'hidden' content allows players to partake in explicit sex scenes with female characters, in rather bad taste. Developers Rockstar had previously argued that the content was an add-on that had been developed by a third party for the PC version, and was not actually in their original code. But the discovery of the same content in the console versions (using the infamous cheat codes and discs) proved that they were attempting to dupe censors.

Dubbed the 'Hot Coffee' version of the game, the 'rude' features were concluded to be too explicit for the standard 'Mature 17+' rating by the ESRB (Electronic Software Ratings Board) and the 'Adults only' tag will now be required. As this will affect the range of shops that will stock the game (many shops have a policy that denies the sale of adult items) it has swiftly been announced that a 'clean' version will be released soon to avoid this problem.

Whilst all this is in the US, it will certainly rub off onto the British as the BBFC are subject to much criticism in terms of game classification lately. Whether Rockstar will change the game before it gets the adult label remains to be seen, but this decision is sure to make developers and publishers take greater care in what they allow.

Please note that we have not sampled the 'bad' features and so are talking from Press statements alone, hence we will not feature any details of how to access any of them. Nor will we feature screenshots of the content.
