GBA DRIV3R
Atari release some new screenshots from DRIV3R, as once again you play tough guy Miami cop, Tanner, as he infiltrates the underworld.
Posted by John Grothier - Game Boy Advance - UK and Europe

Atari announced today that DRIV3R, the action-driving game is currently in development for Nintendo's Game Boy Advance and scheduled for release this autumn 2005.

Developed by G. Dubail and F. Velez, the talented development team behind a string of best selling Game Boy Advance titles including Stuntman and V-Rally 3, DRIV3R provides a very different gaming experience to the console and PC versions. The development team have boldly combined some of the most difficult areas of handheld game programming, including complete freedom, huge environments, character and vehicle control, and intricate collisions, to create a game that is by far the most complex that Atari has published for the Game Boy Advance.

The game consists of a single enormous 'Undercover' game mode which encompasses missions and driving mini-games. The 25 missions tell the tale of tough guy Miami cop, Tanner, as he infiltrates the local and international underworld. The first 12 missions take place in Miami with the remainder set in the French city of Nice. With over 50km of streets to explore in each city, the player is free at any time to take a rest from the missions and go for a casual ride around town, gun in hand, in one of the more than 25 vehicles available. Alternatively they can chose to test their mettle playing one of the driving mini-games, including Slalom, Checkpoint, Trailblazer and Destruction.

"What the development team have achieved with this title is truly remarkable, and it's a rare sight to see so much freeform gameplay and detail packed into a Game Boy Advance title," said Cyril Voiron of Atari Europe. "DRIV3R has been a great success, and with this title we're bringing fans of the franchise a new DRIV3R experience with more freedom than in any previous Driver game to date, while retaining the elements that have made the Driver franchise so popular: high octane action, exhilarating car chases, and incredible driving physics."

With secret missions to unlock, more than 25 vehicles to thrash, and over seven different weapons to wreak havoc with, DRIV3R for the Game Boy Advance offers a colossal Driver experience in the palm of your hand.
