1st August 2005:
Mystified
Once more the Mysts part and we gain a look at the power of the slate.
Posted by Chris Snook - PC - UK and Europe

There is a new force fo command in Myst V: End of Ages for the first time in any game it is now possible to interact by writing the language of the game world.

Using what has been termed The Slate, players will be able to draw symbols, each with different abilities and effects. These sigils will allow you to control the weather, enemies and solve puzzles that once were insurmountable. The Slate is considered integral to the way the game works, indeed it is stated that without it the game is impossible to complete as you need to read and understand histories in order to progress.

Ubisoft also released the first real screens for End of Ages, showing the power of The Slate. However no information was given on just how the symbols are created, whether by mouse or in some other way.

Myst V: End of Ages is out this Autumn.
